Thanks for your comment. I've raised my profile by getting involved in al local free networking and speaking as much as possible on topics I know about and which are beneficial to the groups. For example I've talked today on "How to Network" and it goes down very well. My talk lasts about 10 minutes for 4Networking groups but the standard time is 25 minutes.
And even those who have been networking a long time still say to me "I haven't tried that for ages. You've eminded me. Thanks" and newcomers just grab some and run with it. At networking meetings I aklways try to speak or throw in some comments until now,m after just 8 months I'm know as either The Marketing Man or The Networker . Its not only brought in good business but it has certainly raised my profile.
My aim on this site is to start giving information about free resources, good ideas that work, low-cost and no-cost ideas and so on. Try anything. The difference between success and mediocracy is whether you take action or do nothing. What you know is great if it helps others and brings in business or raises your profile, but in all honesty just taking action and getting the little things right like always sending out an e-mail after meeting someone to remind them or always keeping your promise. Ordinary people can achieve miracles by just doing things well.
Take a look at www.unibus.ning.com and you'll see a podcast I made on holding an exhibition or look at the videos (click on "Show all videos" and you see a couple I made, one on "marketing rules ok!" and one on the launch of Unibus. THis has only been going for 4 months and is becoming well established because I work hard at it.
What can I do to help? Do you want me to put together a podcast or video? Do you want to know how to set up a site like Unibus? I look forward to hearing.
By the way look at www.localbusinessnetworking.ning.com. Why not form a group in Sheffield. I'm looking for local group organisers and you'll earn a bit of pocket money for organising. You get £15 per attending member who pays their £65 annual sub and £5 per memeber at each meeting. So 20 members will give you £100 a meeting and possibly £225 in introductions. Be the first group to start up.
